Submit a Case Study

Tell us about a case study relating to the use of ICTs in government in a developing/transitional country by completing and submitting the following form. (Or, preferably, use this format for a word processed document, and submit it direct to: richard.heeks@manchester.ac.uk).

Alternatively, you can submit an online resource (web link) on a topic of choice or relating to eGovernment in general.

You (required) - your name and surname (add the word "Anonymous" in front of your name and surname if you wish to remain anonymous in the online version of the case).

Email address (required) - your e-mail address (required for verification purposes also in case of anonymous cases).

Topic (required)

Case Title - give your case study a short, meaningful title.

Organisation - the identity and activities of the main public sector organisation involved (again indicate if you wish the specific name to be anonymous in the online version).

Region - the country (unless anonymous) and region of the world in which the organisation is located (e.g. North Africa, South Asia, etc.).

Date - the start date of operation of the application.

Application - the type of information systems application involved (e.g. health management information system, procurement system, website, etc.) and the main hardware/software used (c.100 words max.).

Application Description - what exactly does the application do in terms of processes performed (or, for a failure, what was it supposed to do) (c.150 words max.).

Application Purpose - why was this application introduced (c.100 words max.).

Stakeholders - who has been affected by this application (c.100 words max.).

Impact - what have been the costs and benefits of this application? Try to quantify if possible and be specific about how the project has contributed to its purpose (c.200 words max.):

Evaluation - has there been any formal evaluation of the project? Does it appear to be a success, or a mixed success/failure, or a total failure (c.50 words max.)

Enablers/CSFs - what were the main enablers or critical success factors that helped the project (maximum of three factors)?

Constraints/CFFs - what were the main constraints/challenges or critical failure factors that caused problems for the project (maximum of three factors)?

Recommendations - on the basis of the case, what key actions would you recommend to other e-government practitioners (either best practices to adopt, or mistakes to avoid) (maximum of three recommendations):
